Mission East is a Danish international relief and development organisation, working in Eastern Europe and Asia. Our aim is to deliver relief aid, to create and support long-term development projects and to empower local aid organisations to carry on the work independently. Making no racial, religious or political distinction between those in need, we aim to assist the most vulnerable.

Sharing the results of 8 years of hard work
On the afternoon of September 11th, 130 people gathered at the Marriott in the Armenian capital of Yerevan - to share the results of 8 years of hard work on the ‘Healthy Start’ project. This ground-breaking project has actually revolutionized the approach to children with disabilities in Armenia, ensuring they get early identification and proper care.
Through the eight years of the project, more than 3,500 children received medical assistance, including 821 children who received rehabilitative treatment at the three Child Development and Rehabilitation Centres established as part of the project, and at centres already established prior to the project.
The project has meant a dramatic improvement not only to the thousands of children who have benefited directly from the project, but also to the thousands of other children in Armenia, who are being helped through a changed approach to child care in the entire nation:
The whole field of child development was never part of the Soviet approach to child care, but through the ‘Healthy Start’ project has now been introduced at all levels in the country, with training sessions aimed at local medical staff, parents, teaching staff of medical colleges and nursing students.
At the end of the photo story you will see how we plan to take the project even further.
Please take a few minutes to go through these pictures, see the faces and read the accounts of some of the key partners and friends of Mission East in Armenia.
